I say this because there are certain actions that one may take in order to survive that someone of a different status might not take. Meaning, a person who has trouble making ends meet may live in the hood. And because of there surroundings which is the hood, a place of frequent violence, they may be more apt to carrying a gun and selling drugs to live. But that other person who has a different living status than the poor person does would be alright with going to a legal job everyday and making money that way.
I also believe in the fact that all three of the ideas, determinism, destiny and complete free will, can all go together. Because as said before, I believe that your environment can play a part in shaping who you are, which embodies the idea of determinism, but you don't have to sell drugs to make a living if you live in the hood. You could get a job which is the idea of complete free will because you choose to get a job or sell drugs. At the same time, it could be your destiny to have done whatever you did to survive. So they all kind of go hand in hand with eachother.

This I Believe - Podcast (2)

Some people reliquish anger through screaming, some let loose anger by hitting things, some even let it out by committing crimes. Committing crimes is close to my way of "Relinquishing My Anger." I believe in the ability to let loose anger in other ways than people would actually like to. My way of coarse, to avoid becoming a convicted felon, is by playing violent video games. Games including blood and gore and graphic violence. Im not strange, it just helps me with stress because alter means could have dire consequences to anyone who gets in my way. Violent video games do something else for me though. I want to do things that other people do, such as committing crimes, without the harsh consequences that come along with it. So I don't commit crimes for obvious reasons, but if I did it would have to be murder! But I do Something quite close.
I could come home from a stressful day at work, trouble with my girl, traffic, or other things of the sort and have nothing but bad intentions in my mind. Once I turn on the video game those "intentions" are a thing in the past. Murder in a video game is the best thing ever created. Because some stupid people, believe it or not, should be shot. Its different on a game though. One example could be that you are angry with one person and you just have the sudden urge to "blow them away" if you will. Well picture them as a character on the game. Reason being there are many, many duplicates of the same character extra on the games, and they reappear constantly. In life you can only kill somebody one time. Due to this effect of constant reappearance you can kill that same person - you pictured as that guy or girl that you hate - constantly. Making it double, triple, quadruple, or however many times you want to multiply their fate more fun. Whether you realize it or not you have eventually started having fun as opposed to being angry. I allow the person to be represented by a character on the game, the gun represents my anger, and there blood spilling to the ground is the release of all my bad intentions toward them. And if that isn't enough molotov cocktails will burn them up quite nicely.
Traffic causes bad intentions too. Sometimes I feel like getting out of my car, walking up to the driver's side window, bashing in their window and choking them with their seatbelt. Of coarse then their car would be stopped permanently and I won't be able to go anywhere anyway, but it feels so good! Video games like the ones mentioned were invented by people like me, for people like me. They know that people want to blow up the car in front of them, so they make a way to do so. Turn on the game, go find that car that you just cant stand and have at it. You can shoot it, break the windows, set it on fire, or for extremely demented people you could call a friend to make a car bomb for you, attach it to the back of someone's car without them knowing, let them ride around for a while and then SET IT OFF! They will go "boom" in mid-stride! Everything represents itself obviously. Car explodes, they burn up and everyones happy. Except them of coarse.
Violent Video games are my favorite counselor. They never tell me I'm wrong and they don't ask me questions that only they understand. I do all the talking! Thank God for Rockstar North. But it's funny. Lots of people say that violent video games are the influence on people to commit hateful crimes. It's done in video games, and there are no real consequences. So they figure, "Lets do it!" The irony in this situation is that violent video games actually turn me away from actually executing my plans on people i can't stand. It's my alternative, buy indirectly doing what I'm trying not to do.

Grappling for the Fake Money

This part of the story was a sign of what a lot of people find when they come to America. And that is false hope. Some people while in their home countries might see America on television or hear about it from others who may have visited and how good it was to be here. But that was only because they were on vacation or they may have only heard about the good aspects of America and not the bad things. A lot of people come to America thinking that they will find the "American Dream". Then they find out that none of the luxuries that come along with being an American are not as free as they think they are. In the story when the men were fighting over the money, they finally realized they were only fighting over something that was useless to their survival.

The Cathedral #2

You can tell that the narrator is a male because of his view towards poetry.
